The color of your thoughts

The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts.

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations. 167 AD

The above quote from Marcus Aurelius is something that I came across and saved years ago, and then I never interacted with it again. Coming across it again now, I have to consider what are my thoughts doing to my soul. How does the way that I think and view the world influence how I experience it?

Continuing where my head was at last week, I’m considering how I can be more active in shifting my mindset in order to shift the direction of my life. For me it has meant actively talking back to myself, basically answering the concerns I raise. It also means being aware of when I am harshly judging myself or others. My outlook on the world is something that I can actively shape. Regardless of circumstance, I only have control over what I think and the thoughts I choose to entertain.
