I was able to get my hands on deluxe samples of La Mer products thanks to virtual events with Sephora and Nordstrom. As I have said before, I have dry skin, made worse by my refusal to drink water. (I’m working on that.) All of my thoughts are based on that skin experience. If you have oilier skin, maybe pay attention to why I did/didn’t like something and use that to form your judgement on what is best for you. Although, I recommend you try things out for yourself. So here is my thoughts each product. I was able to get a few days of use or more depending on the number of samples I got.

The moisturizing cool gel cream– My skin thought, “Why did you even bother with this?
(Ideal for oily to combination skin)
It did nothing for me.” Personally, I did not look forward to skin care while testing this because I knew my skin would be ridiculously dry the next day.

Moisturizing Matte Lotion– Eh, again my skin said no. Not as bad as the cool gel for me, but not good either.

Moisturizing soft lotion. Also a no, better, but still no.
(Ideal for balanced to combination skin)

Moisturizing soft cream. Okay, getting better, but I still found myself waking up the next day with dry patches, especially on my forehead.
(Ideal for balanced to dry skin)

Crème de la Mer- Ah! At last, the OG, and the best fit for my skin.
(Ideal for drier skin)
I only had a tiny pot of this, but I found when I used it as directed (take a little bit and warm it between your fingers before pressing onto your face) that I didn’t need that much. (And no, it is not just a ploy by the brand to get you to waste product. Trying to apply it like a regular moisturizer will actually use more.) I will admit I had the chance to try this on two separate occasions. Each time I got about a week’s worth of use, but these occasions were weeks apart. I would be very interested in trying it for an extended time. My skin certainly felt good. I didn’t experience any irritation. Even though the product in the jar is rather thick, it didn’t feel like an occlusive barrier or like it was suffocating me, which I have felt using other products before.

The concentrate– I don’t know. I only had a bout a week’s worth of product, but I would be very interested in trying it for an extended time.
(Barrier serum to soothe and protect skin)
The concentrate- I don’t know. I only had a bout a week’s worth of product, but I would be very interested in trying it for an extended time. It felt good on, and I experienced no irritation. I just can’t speak to any of the product claims yet, because I only used it for such a short time period. It should be used for at least two weeks straight before you see any results.

The renewal oil– I mean, it’s an oil. I don’t know how it compares to any others.
(“Multifaceted oil” to increase hydration and radiance)
Did it make a difference at all? Also, in looking up the product for this review, I realize now they suggest you put in on first before your moisturizer. I was doing the reverse. So, there’s that.
I definitely would like to try La Mer as an extended regimen for at least a month straight to speak to better to results. I would especially like to try to cleaning and body products as well.
Would I recommend the brand? Absolutely. I don’t think you create a cult following without doing something right. You should definitely try it for yourself. I would suggest trying to get a sample from your local La Mer counter. I know my local Nordstrom is still making product samples on request. Maybe I will ask them for some of the cleanser.
(Note, the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is on. This is a great time to try the product out in one of the value sets.)
