As you get your mind ready to attend SXSW in Austin, Texas, you might be wondering what to even pack. Here’s some ideas to help you build your packing list. While there is no real dress code for the event, there are few things you should definitely bring:
Comfortable clothes: Or rather, clothes you feel comfortable in. If you are going to be out and about all day long over multiple days, what would you wear? For some that’s a blazer for others it’s a t-shirt and jeans. That’s something to answer for yourself, but just know that the conference leans more casual.
Walking shoes: You’ll be walking from venue to venue, standing in lines, and potentially just exploring Austin. Wear shoes that can keep up with all of that activity without making your feet scream in pain.
Layers- The Texas humidity and daytime sun will likely keep you hot during the day. However, the A/C and surprisingly cool evening breeze can chill you. Bring a light layer that you can take with you to stay comfortable.
Sun protection: Bring your sunglasses, sunscreen, and possibly a hat to shield your face while you’re waiting in those outdoor lines and navigating the city.
Bag: You’re going to collect free things throughout the event. It would be so much easier to have a hands-free carrying option. Even you get a tote at registration, you might want a backpack. Trust me on that one.
