The winter lip balm mistake you can avoid

New year, new me. To demonstrate my dedication to getting fit, I started going on on walks now in the dead of winter. So of course, I wanted to hydrate my lips. Mistake. As the cold air hit my face, I could feel my super glossy lips starting to stick together. I could see the texture of the lip gloss change in the tube while it was left in the car. It’s time to switch up my lip care game to match the temperatures.

What I’m using

Instead of wet glosses, I am using more balms and butters on the days I’ll be outside for extended times. Right now, I’m liking Balm Dot Com from Glossier and the Rouge Dior Balm. But of course, this is a great time for Aquaphor and Vaseline as protective barriers.

How I’m using it

Instead in my car or even a purse, I recommend keeping the balm in a clothing pocket. That way my body heat can keep it from getting too cold.

Important first step

I need to take care to apply before I head out the door, of course. But also, to keep my lips even more hydrated I have to increase my water intake. It’s cold and dry. The wind is whipping around. I have to hydrate from within to give my lips a fighting chance.

Those are my tips. How are you changing your beauty routine for winter?
