Looking for a men’s fragrance from Diptyque?

On a day I didn’t feel great, I thought that a fragrance called Eau de Minthé might be the answer. I had assumed that this parfum from Diptyque would smell like soothing fresh mint. Instead, it smells reminiscent of my father’s signature scent. It’s a masculine scent that projects into the room.

Because it is undeniably what I would refer to as a masculine smell, I can’t imagine too many occasions where I’d personally wear this. But I can imagine this being the kind of scent that someone sprays on right after a shower while getting ready to work. Whether or not I would want to be in the cubicle next door is the question. I’m not sure I would.

Experiencing this, Minthé would be closer to menthol, that sinus opening scent, than the delicate mint leaves I had in mind. But in this combination, the mint works together with the other notes to produce something sophisticated. Part aftershave, part herbaceous tincture, it’s growing on me with each scent. However, it’s pretty strong. If it’s oversprayed it could be nauseating. But with a light hand, it could be something special.

If you like fougere fragrances, or want to splurge on a gift for someone who does, you should look into Eau de Minthé by Diptyque.
