I rummaged through my toiletry bag, discovering I was far from home with no moisturizer. Instead of panicking about how the wind will dry out my skin, I figured this would be a perfect time to try a new sheet mask. I popped into Sephora I chose the Watermelon Jelly Sheet Mask from Glow Recipe.

$8 for 1 mask
The packaging is shaped like a slice of watermelon. Cute, they’re really leaning into the fruit. After cleansing my skin, I tore open the packaging and then accidently dropped the mask on the counter. I was not at all expecting it to fall out, nor was I expecting it to come without any plastic sheets to keep it in shape. After verifying I would be applying the cleaner side, I fiddled with it to get it on to my face. Then I set a timer while it did its magic. And then it decided to clock out early.
The mask just slid off my face. I couldn’t bother with trying to continuously fix it anymore so I gave up.
My face looked like more moisturized, as in there was more product on there, but it wasn’t great. The serum left my face feeling sticky. The part that touched my hairline left stringy product pilling. I hoped it would be better in the morning once it had a chance to absorb, but that wasn’t the case. The serum rolled up on my face, leaving me to have to pick it off. It just wasn’t comfortable for me at all. I had to cleanse my face all over again, defeating the purpose of using it as a moisturizer.
While there are products the I like from Glow recipe, this is definitely not one of them. I’ll allow that maybe it just didn’t agree with my skin type personally or maybe there was something off. But if you’re interested, you can try it for yourself to see if you have different results.
