So is this Kilian fragrance really unforgettable?

When I went to the Killian boutique last year, I had a chance to smell Born to Be Unforgettable. A cola fragrance? As an American, you’d think I’d be intrigued by something that smells like our national drink, but I was unsure. I remember the cola notes shining through and surprising me. I left that day, not thinking of it again until now, where I’m finally trying it on skin.

On paper, there is that essence of a beloved soda. But on me, on my skin, it isn’t there. It made me wonder if it were. Instead, it smells undeniably masculine and a bit reminiscent of a dog’s skin. (That could be because I was playing with dog, but it could also be some kind of musk of animalic. Hold on, let me take a moment to look at the notes.

Born to be Unforgettable eau de parfum

$37 for 10 mL

Notes: Lime, cinnamon, nutmeg, cola, cedarwood

I think what I might be getting is just the spices and cedarwood.  It’s odd to me that the cinnamon isn’t giving a warmth to this fragrance. Perhaps it’s mostly the nutmeg killing this for me, because I’m realizing I don’t like nutmeg all that much culinarily. But I still feel like there is something else there that they haven’t listed that is projecting off of me more.

I don’t like this at all. Honestly, I feel self-conscious wearing it out and about, because it really doesn’t work with my skin chemistry. But maybe that won’t be the case for you. Reviews are mixed for this one, so you’ll definitely need to test this out for yourself. If you like the smell of cola, it be worth it to give Born to be Unforgettable a try.

I may not have liked this fragrance, but I have my eye on the new pillar candles from Kilian.
