News broke recently. Dario Vitale is out as creative director at Versace. It hasn’t even been a year since he took over the role from Donatella Versace. Just one showing, and he was out. Whether he stepped down on his own accord or was encouraged to leave by the new management group, I don’t know. It would be all too easy to speculate on the reasons why he left, potentially picking apart his Spring/Summer 26 show. What I do know for sure is that he put himself out there to try at all.
When I thought about a career in fashion as a young kid, I saw the pace of collections and immediately took myself out of that career field. It was too much. How could I possibly keep up? But now, I find myself inspired by people who had the bravery to pursue their passion. I look in awe at someone like Vitale, who may have had a short tenure, but it is far longer than any I have ever had.
Here to trying publicly, potentially failing publicly, and going after the art that moves you.
