You finally planned the vacation, but something just doesn’t feel right. And it isn’t just your standard nerves. There is something nagging you. You keep trying to push it down and continue to plan details, but there it is again, just right when you were picking out hotels. Listen, I have spent the last couple of years pushing myself to get over my travel fears and into new experiences. But lean in close: It’s okay to cancel.
It is okay to listen to your gut and put the trip off. You’re right, you might be missing out. You might never get the chance again. You might not get your money back. ,So true, but will you ever get this moment back?
I push for travel because it is such good way to discover yourself. But if you choose to ignore yourself and your feelings at home, that will probably defeat the point. So take a moment, drop in and listen to what your body and mind are telling you. Maybe it was something mild, maybe it was excitement. But maybe it was more.
I am all for pushing yourself to try new things, but only if that is what you truly need at the time. Sometimes, the healing needs to happen at home.
