A few days ago, Hermes announced that their creative director of menswear, Véronique Nichanian, was stepping down after 37 years at the helm. Today, they announced Grace Wales Bonner as successor. And now I’m really excited about the brand.
To be fair, I’ve already thoroughly enjoyed the showings under Nichanian. Do we remember the skateboard satchels? But now, Wales Bonner will bring a new take to men’s tailoring. She already has her own eponymous brand, has had continuous collaborations with Adidas, featured heavily in this year’s Met Gala and the paired Superfine exhibit. Whether you know of her or not, she’s big in the game. I am ready to see what she has in store for her first showing in January 2027. (It would be so cool if I could be there for it!)
