A new chapter at Chanel

Finally, I might be a Chanel fan. Previously, as I watched Chanel shows, it felt prim and proper. Like the girls with the slicked back, perfectly in place bun. Not me. But with Mathieu Blazy’s first showing for the brand for Spring/Summer 2026 there was an ease. The tailoring was there, but it felt more relaxed, and more lived in. The former Bottega Veneta creative director seems to be breathing new life into the brand without deviating too far from its codes.

If you love their approach to tweed, it was still there. If you want you classic flap, again there, too. But there were touches of oversized button downs with Chanel written in script, subtle going under the radar. There was bag likely to compete with the Margaux bag from the row. And there were florals and fun and joy.

It might be too far to say that I am a Chanel fan. This is after all just one show, and I am still not ready to spend $2500 on a shirt. But this is a new look that I will continue to watch for in the seasons to come.
