It’s getting chillier outside. It officially feels like fall, finally. My nose is craving scents that scream the season, something darker, smokier, cozier. As I noticed Velvet Bold by Commodity Fragrances, I hoped it would give me exactly what I was looking for. As I’m smelling it, I sense a sweet smokiness to it. Maybe an amber and vanilla. Perfect.

$155 for 100 mL
Notes:
Top: Saffron
Heart: Almonds, rose
Base: Vanilla, amber, patchouli
Unfortunately, now just a few short hours after spraying, it seems to have faded down significantly. But I’ve only sprayed it on my wrists. Maybe if I’d done my usual routine, it would be sticking around more. At the very least it would have gotten captured on my clothing. Even still, I like this so much I could see myself respraying it just to continue to experience it throughout the evening.
Velvet seems well suited for crisp evenings. I could see this being perfect for dawning a velvet jacket, sitting next to a fire and reading Dostoyevsky. It has that level of seriousness, with a bit of wealth, too. But I will certainly spray myself down with this before putting on a sweater and heading out to the grocery store. I just like the mood that it puts me in.
If you are looking for a scent perfect for chillier temperatures, something a touch smoky and sweet, try Velvet Bold by Commodity. (But if you want something subtler, you can also try the Personal and Expressive versions, too.)
