I had a big day ahead of me. I needed some energy. I reached for Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Energy. Admittedly, as soon as I sprayed it on, I regretted that decision. It smelled grassy and green, which is not at all how I wanted to smell walking into the meeting room.
Explaining the fragrance, Charlotte Tilbury highlights bergamot, palo santo accord, frankincense, cypress, and seaweed extract. I would have assumed it would smell woody, but no. On me it seems the “mossy and forest-like aspects of” cypress is what carried forward. Maybe a little bit of the bergamot. None of the soothing, grounding palo santo.
Maybe I didn’t like how I smelled, but did I end up with more energy?
The event was a success. The room was filled with energy, but that likely nothing to do with how I smelled and more to do with my preparation. No one commented on my scent. To be fair, even if they had noticed, it doesn’t have a crowd pleaser scent profile at all. They would probably refrain because they wouldn’t have anything nice to say.
I think I were making this part of a fragrance ritual to shift my energy or how I feel about my day, I’d keep it to an at home practice. Or maybe for a meditation sitting outside in the grass.
But if you like green grassy notes with a touch of citrus, this might be one for you to try.
