Quick note about the service at the Langham Hotel NYC

Yesterday, I started writing about my experience at the Langham Hotel in New York. You can read about my thoughts on the room (or not, the spoiler is that I was not impressed) but today I’m focused on the other aspects of the hotel.

Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the front desk staff. Though at booking I chose a courtyard view, I found out they had upgraded my room to a street view. Personally, I found that not to be a better room, given the street noise. But I can still appreciate how hard the staff member worked to find an upgrade. In fact every member of staff I encountered was thoughtful, warm, and helpful.

Just off from the front desk, tucked away was the lobby/sitting area. Walking towards the elevator, I noticed a candy dish with mints and dispensers with drink offerings that changed daily. I particularly noticed they used the Tropical Garden herbal tea from Palais Des Thés. It was delicious. I want a box and tea service for very own. That was a small touch, but it made coming back after a busy day more enjoyable.

(Was I running as I snapped a picture of the drink stand?)

I made it a point to visit the gym to see what was offered. It had pretty much everything I could need for any workout. There were even clubs, which I think people use for core training.  Everything was in working order and clean. If I were to have any qualm at all with the gym, it would be that there was no guest account for the Peloton. That would be the final touch to allow guests without their own account to use that piece of equipment. And for me, who couldn’t remember her password.

These two areas are extremely important to me when I’m booking a hotel: the service/treatment from the staff and the quality of the fitness center. And of course, cleanliness matters too. I may not have been a fan of décor but the heart of the hotel is where the Langham Hotel New York shines.
