Imagine this. You are a logo obsessed luxury consumer with perpetually dry hands. What do you do? Why, you buy the Dior Le Baume of course. Okay, coming clean, I am not logo obsessed. I’m just really curious about skincare. This moisturizer is touted as a cream that can do it all, for hands, lips, and body. I tried it.
Let’s start with the good.
I can put this on and not feel like I have greasy hands. It absorbs into my skin well, leaving them hydrated and supple. It’s not fragranced, as far as I can tell, which is a plus for me as I test fragrances frequently and don’t want my hands competing. (Or for that matter, nauseating me every time I bring them to my face.) But for all intents and purposes, it’s a hand cream. I suppose that’s it for the pros. Now to the cons.
I have only once tried this on my lips. Not a fan. It has an odd flavor that I don’t want on my mouth. But from a formula perspective, that is my only con. My biggest problem is that I just don’t like the packaging.
With the way it’s shaped and how firm the plastic is, it is harder to make sure that all of the product is out. I find myself shaking the product to make sure all of it is concentrated at the tip. There is no way to squeeze all the contents out. I can only depress it at the middle. If I’m spending that much, I want to get every last drop.
The last bit is the logomoania design. To be honest with you, I am not logo obsessed, nor do I want others to think I am. To avoid embarrassment with such an extravagant hand cream, this just stays on my work desk, tucked away for no one else to see.
Do I like the formula of this? Yes. Will I rebuy it once it’s empty. I don’t know. If I win this powerball, maybe. It’s a good hand cream, but I might find myself looking for a similar formula elsewhere.
If you want a nongreasy hand cream that fulfills your loud luxury needs, try Le Baume.
