“What fragrance is that?” I noticed my coworker’s scent as he walked by. I was intrigued and had to know what it was. It smelled good, yes, but it also had the kind of projection that I don’t think I often get when I wear scents. “Blue Talisman,” he said. I didn’t think much of it after that, other than that it was an interesting name.
Now, as I scroll though the Saks website, it came back to mind. Blue Talisman is a scent by Ex Nihilo. It has notes of bergamot, ginger, mandarin, and pear at the top. It has a heart of orange blossom with woody notes and musk. I don’t know at what point in the day he had sprayed the fragrance, so I can’t tell you anything about how it had developed. Nor can I tell you anything about how it actually smelled, other than really good. Much better than you would expect for a work scent.
Ex Nihilo is a fragrance house that I have never tried for myself, but now of course, I have to. It’s a fragrance house that I’ve seen but never tried, but scents like Fleur Narcotique make their rounds in fragrance circles, with high praise. Maybe in a few months, I will have to try this house out for myself.
