The smell of summer, from Aerin

Mediterranean Honeysuckle by Aerin doesn’t smell quite the way that I initially thought it would. Upon seeing honeysuckle in the name,  I immediately called to mind the scent of honeysuckle bushes, that sweetness that calls pollinators and young children alike. I expected to be washed with memories of tasting that nectar in my childhood. That is not what I got in this fragrance.

Instead, what I smell is more citrus and floral. Perhaps, this pulls in the Mediterranean, instead of the freshly cut grass that is part of my memories.

I think, nay I know that my thoughts on this fragrance are biased because I came in with the nostalgia. This is not what I was hoping it would be, but it isn’t a bad fragrance. It has a summery essence with the citrus, it is lightly floral, and it has moderate staying power and projection. It is one of those white linen dress kind of fragrances. It smells like a feminine interpretation of summer.

If you are looking for a citrus forward floral scent, this is what you should try. But if you are trying to recapture the essence of American honeysuckle summers, you’ll find yourself disappointed.
