We used to loathe uniforms

I remember a moment back when I was in school. The district wanted to move towards uniforms, to help cut down on bullying and limit dress code violations. There was public outcry. Students and parents vehemently protested against. What about free speech? Individuality? Choice? Ultimately, the people won out, and we never had to wear uniforms. Until now, when people are clamoring for the idea on social media.

Think about the way that personal development bros idolize Steve Jobs for his standard jeans and black turtleneck. His mind was free from making a needless decision everyday. Enter the idea of a personal uniform.

Perhaps the difference is that each person creates an individualized difference, even though the end result is to wear similar outfits every day. Be it a collared shirt and slacks, or baggie jeans and concert tees, the idea is the same. You keep you clothing pieces in a similar style and shape to make your outfit choices easier.

Personally, I’ve found myself gravitating towards collared linen shirts and wide leg pants. Weather depending, I would wear that look every day. Same shape, but maybe a few different colors. Even though I shift into similar outfits day in and day out, I like the idea of having some options.

If you were forced to wear one outfit over and over again, what would it be?
