I sprayed it on my wrist. Breathed it in. Yes, that’s what I want to smell like tomorrow, Carmina from Creed. It is floral, but softly sweet. As I run through my limited scent vocabulary, I guess that it has lily in it. Something to make it feminine and demure. Not at all, it is Rose de Mai, and described as a feminine alluring fragrance. Upon further review and with a newly biased nose, I can smell the rose. But I’m not sure if I would call this fragrance “alluring,” but to each his own.

$300 for 30 mL
Notes
Top: Black cherry, saffron, pink pepper
Heart: Rose de Mai, violet, cashmere wood, peony
Base: Frankincense, myrrh, amber, musk
I sprayed myself at night before bed, but didn’t notice the scent on my wrist as I rushed out for a morning workout. The next day I reapplied, and unfortunately largely spent the day by myself, with no one to smell me. I will note that at the end of the work day, I didn’t notice the fragrance on my skin. This morning, I gave myself two spritzes in each zone. It’s just been an hour on my skin, but I can still smell it on my skin. As the day wears on, it will have to compete with the coffee shop scent that I am currently absorbing. I don’t expect anyone to notice it.
As I think about how I would incorporate this into my fragrance wardrobe, I imagine myself with a sleek top bun, with tendrils playfully cascading on the sides. I’m wear a crisp button down shirt in a length cropped to the waist. A look that is formal, yet playful and more fun. That’s what I get from this fragrance. It has all the elements of a fragrance that could be more formal, but something about seems more playful and inviting.
Of all the Creed fragrances that I’ve tried, I believe this is the first that I’ve enjoyed upon first spray. Maybe I will start to understand the hype this brand has earned over its illustrious history. I have sample of Queen of Silk to play with next. Let’s see if that one fully wins me over.
If you enjoy “not your grandmother’s rose” scents, give Carmina by Creed a try.
