How well does a grape water mist work?: Thoughts on this Caudalie product

I picked up the Caudalie Grape Water Moisturizing Face Mist to give the brand a second chance. As a reminder of my previous post, I am not a fan of their Beauty Elixir. I found, though social media sings its praises, the extracts and essential oils in the blend irritated my skin. That led me down the hunt for something that would both hydrate my skin and not irritate it. Surely this mist would fit that bill.

Grape Water Moisturizing Face Mist

$12 for 75 mL

A soothing hydrating facial mist

This grape water mist is refreshing and hydrating and much gentler. Well, there’s no reason it should be since the only ingredient is essentially water. But because of that, it’s benefits are limited. There is a boost of hydration, that then quickly evaporates away. I’ve used it as a wakeup mist before I start my skincare routine. I could also see it being the last step of my process if I am using a hyaluronic acid-based moisturizer. I could also see this being great in the summer time, especially if it’s kept cool, as a very bougie cooling mist.

Now, here’s how I do not recommend it be used, based on my personal experiences as someone with dry skin of course.

  • Over makeup, unless you typically spray pure water on your face and have no issue with products breaking up.
  • As a one and done hydrating mist, unless you have really oily skin and didn’t need a moisturizer any way.  For me, just spraying water on my face will leave it drier over time without any oils to lock it in place.

Because of how much I enjoyed the Chantecaille Rose Water Mist, I can’t see myself repurchasing this one. But, if you are looking for a cheaper option, this one might work for you. Just make sure you are clear with what it is. Water in a bottle.
