When you first get on the luxury candle side of YouTube, you will pretty soon hear about Trudon. I personally watched multiple videos where people spoke highly of the brand. As I walked through the Aventura Mall and saw the boutique before me, it was if I was completing a mission that CandleTube sent me on.
I have to admit, I had built the brand up to be so ultraluxurious that I was intimidated. I sheepishly went in, telling the associate that I had heard a lot about the brand and wanted to finally learn all about it. The associate was more than up to the task. He spent time telling me about the history of the brand, the bestsellers, and his favorite scents. And of course, I went on a smelling journey as well.

The room was dimly lit. It felt like a cozy study or sitting room. On one side were replica busts of famous French figures, made into candles. Figures such as Louis XIV, Marie Antoinette, and Napoleon perched regally the room. It’s an homage to the history of the world’s oldest candle brand, formerly the official candle maker of the French court and royal family. I suppose you could burn these candles, as a protest to the monarchy, but the wicks don’t extend to the bottom of the candle. You would more likely end up with a half-melted horror statuette or art piece commentary.

In the center, the table was filled with candles. Each one was covered by a cloche. As he explained the scents, he lifted each cloche for me to smell the fragrance within the glass. Ernesto- the crowd favorite, Abd El Kaer- the trip to Moroccan tea time, Maduraï- the Indian flower field. Those were the ones that most intrigued me, even though everything smelled amazing.
On the other side were the personal fragrances. This category, along with the hand soaps and diffusers, are part a new direction of the brand. In fact, they are the reason why it dropped the “cire” from Cire Trudon. They are more than wax, more than candles.

I could have spent longer in the store, but I ended my day with purchasing two candles and a discovery set to continue to explore the brand. I want to come back to the store and to other stores they have. More than the scents they had, it was the care that sold me.
I spent this whole week reflecting on a viral story rooted in a customer service experience. That one moment changed a person’s relationship to a brand forever. In my case, the care and knowledge I noticed only further attracted me to the brand. I was at no point pushed to buy anything and made to feel out of place. The focus was on giving me the best introduction to the brand possible. I learned a lot about candles that day, but the lasting impact is how much I learned about providing an excellent customer experience.
As I continue to use the products I got, I will bring you my reviews. But until then, take a look and explore the world of Trudon for yourself.
