I know very little about makeup, but I am still choosing to explore new products. That’s partly why I want to write to you a bit about Dior’s Hydra Nude foundation. As someone whose skin is drier, I originally thought their Forever Skin Glow was going to the best option for me. But alas, as the day wore on, the glow started to look more like grease. On the other end of the spectrum was their matte version. However, the matte finish was too drying for me and left me looking patchy. I needed to find my goldilocks product in the line. I suppose this is where the Hydra Nude would enter the chat.
I found the Hydra Nude gave me the all day hydration that I was looking for without the grease. Well, except for when my skin wasn’t in the best condition. Then it would grip on to drier spots, making it really obvious that I was wearing makeup and not effortlessly natural. I found that I could get around this by using a hydrating primer beforehand.
I did also notice that later into the day I could see creasing around my mouth. I think that is more about my dehydration levels than it is about the product though. Other than that, I believe it wore well throughout the day. But mind you, I was only really wearing and test this at home. This was because of the major con.
The range of shades offered is much more limited than the other Forever foundation products. On top of that, I can’t guess the rhyme or reason for how they shade matched the models. Some models appear darker and are yet wearing lower numbers than the models after them. That made it tricky for me to figure out where I would fit in the lineup. I made an educated guess and got pretty close. I went a hair too light, but not enough to go through the effort of returning the product. I can make it work for now. Post summer vacations is a different story.
My shade matching skills aside, I have come to quite like this product. It is hydrating for my skin without looking greasy. And if you have dry skin and want to look moisturized instead of dewy, this could be an option for you. But like most foundation products, I would recommend you go into a store and try to get a shade match.
If you are interested in trying for yourself, you can get Dior Forever Hydra Nude for $57 for 1 oz on the Dior website and at various beauty retailers.
