Today I am writing to you about my stay at The Barnett, in New Orleans. Tomorrow, I will write about the experience. Let’s jump in with the tour.
It is centrally located in a good section of New Orleans, not right smack on the craziness of Canal Street, but walking distance from nightlife and restaurants.
The lobby area is dark, but still inviting. Just off of the lobby are the restaurant and the coffee shop. And almost nightly, there are live bands on property in a space called Good Measure.

Walking to my room, my first thought was “cute.” The first thing I noticed was the largest in-room fridge I have ever seen.

The Smeg was comparatively huge and stocked with premium alcohol and mixed cocktails. (There was also a note stating you would be charged if you used the fridge for personal items.)

I’ll add that I appreciate that they provided a listing with clear pricing on the minibar items. Too often, I get tempted to try something, but have no idea how much I would be indebted to the hotel form. This transparency was a plus in my book.

Then there was the armoire with the painted doors.
A bed that was deceptively comfortable, despite how firm it was.

The view from one window was directly into someone else’s room in a different building (which I kept shuttered). The other was just the street.

I was happy to notice that the gym had a Peloton bike among other equipment.
That was that. Would I recommend this hotel? Well, we’ll get into depth about that tomorrow, but the short answer is that no, I personally would not. Now, I had others in my travel party who enjoyed their stay. So there are redeeming qualities. If you want a decent stay, it can provide that to you. However, there were some red flags there that give me pause about making a reservation at this property ever again. Stay tuned.
