I’m glad I tried this lip oil from Merit

On a day I had decided I would wear a little makeup, I realized I had nothing on my lips. So I went to my stash and remembered I had a brand new Merit Shade Slick still unused. I cracked it open and swiped it on.

Whereas the Dior lip oil doesn’t feel true to the name and is more just sticky and lip gloss like, this feels like nourishing oil. This tinted lip oil is much thinner and has more slip and I rub my lips together.

Nourishing oil gives lips a wash of color

As I swiped on the lip oil I panicked. The tint looked a little streaky. The second swiped evened it out. It was in the shade Marrakech and added a orangey-reddy-brown wash of color to my lips. It is not as sheer as I thought it would be given the thin consistency, but the color became less obvious as it absorbed in to my lips. An hour later, I will say that my lips feel amazing. Another hour later, I want to put more on just because I enjoyed it, but I didn’t need to.

I’m playing with this product more and more now. As a bit of color for a low makeup look, as a topper for a lip shade I’m not sure about, and now even as a nourishing treatment for my lips before sleep.

I will definitely be trying something else from them. We’ll what I sample next. It might just be the lip oil in the shade Falcon, if I’m honest. This is my first experience with Merit Beauty, a brand I continue to hear good things about. If all of the other products are just as nourishing, I’m excited to see more.
