A little bit of Dior’s Hyalushot, and a little expert advice

I had been using the Dior Hyalushot and noticed that it was behaving weirdly. It was getting gummy and stringy. I chalked it up to being a bad product.  And then I signed for a one-on-one consultation with a Dior virtual advisor. “How much are you applying?” She was horrified to learn that I had been piping it out in a line along the area I wanted to target.

“From what I can see of your skin, you don’t really have wrinkles. You should only need a few dots.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, I got better results following her advice. Just a few dots, and then pat it in to the skin. This is perhaps going to be my quickest review of a product. I find it to be moisturizing, and it is gentle enough for me to use as an undereye moisturizer. However, I don’t think it is the best product for me, particularly because I don’t have the needs it was designed to address. I will continue to use it as a hit of moisture, but I likely won’t repurchase.

My experience does lead me to ask you something. Are you fully taking advantage of expert advice?

As you continue on in your skincare journey and try new products, there may be a learning curve. Things may not be working the way you want them to. Fortunately, many brands have so many resources for us to learn more about products, their intended uses, and application techniques. From the simple advice on the product page to extensive masterclasses, you can dive deeper into your product knowledge to ensure you are getting the best possible results.

Whichever brands you are interested in, check out the website. What is on the product page? Do they have any quizzes to help you find the best routine for your skin needs? Can you chat with an agent? Do they offer consultations? Is there a store near you with a rep?

These have been my go-tos when I need more product knowledge, but there are so many ways to get information about products these days. What are your go-tos? How do you learn about skincare products?
