Here is what you should know about Augustinus Bader’s new skin infusion

Augustinus Bader came out with their product the Skin Infusion. I attended a virtual workshop hosted by Alex Steinherr and esthetician Melanie Grant to learn more about it. This is what I learned.

Like all of their products, this includes TFC8 but in an advanced version to support skin repair and rejuvenation. It also contains a Vitamin D activator, made with plant-based beetroot active and probiotics, to boost hydration and barrier function. As an important note, this product does not replace oral supplementation of vitamin D, but it promotes the absorption of it into the skin. B5 panthenol provides deep hydration, and Zinc PCA helps reduce inflammation and redness.

The hosts likened the product to a 4 week boot camp for your skin. The reason for 4 weeks is that is the cycle of skin renewal. It is the optimal amount of time to give the skin a reset. They recommend doing the process 3-4 times a year, or at least once a year. It’s really up to you, but there is no need to do it more often.

The Skin Infusion is shipped with a set of three vials packaged in insulation/temperature control packaging. It does not need to be refrigerated, but keep it out of direct sunlight, away from direct heat, and at room temperature. Open only one vial at a time. Finish one bottle before moving to next.

To apply, dispense 2-3 pumps and press product in finger tips. Then apply to the face in an upwards and outwards motion. Then apply to the neck and back of hands. The product is safe to use around eyes. When applying, you can take it up to under the eye and orbital bones.

There are a few ways you can incorporate it into your regimen.  You can fit it into your current practice as an additional step. Then, you would apply 2-3 pumps after serum before cream. If you want to streamline things, you might choose to replace your serum with the infusion and then follow up with moisturizer. Finally, if you have oilier skin or live in a hot and humid environment, you might be fine to just use the infusion as your final step. Customize to what works well for you. A recommended routine would be cleanser, serum, infusion, and moisturizer, and add SPF in the daytime.

You should not experience any purging or breakouts. It is not an active like AHA or retinoid. You can also continue your exfoliation regimen while using this. Exfoliating 2-3 times a week will only enhance the benefits, because it will help the product be more effective.

Perhaps the biggest thing you should know is the price. It is not cheap and is certainly a special treat for your skin. At $430, it is likely not feasible for regular use, but there are facials that cost the same amount. This claims to improve your skin over the course of a month. It is up to you to decide if it is worth it to you. Curiosity got the best of me, so I will you what I thought next week.
