Denmark on a whim

I went to Denmark on a whim. I’d heard fashion influencers speak about the place. And then there was  Delta flight deal to Copenhagen. I was itching to experience more international travel, but I couldn’t get interest from others to come with me. Could I possibly go to overseas alone? People closest to me asked the same question and tried to dissuade me from going. After weighing the anxiety of taking a trip alone with the regret of not taking chance, I bought the ticket. I was going to head of on my first European vacation.

Admittedly, I was nervous. I didn’t really know what to expect. I did enough research to stifle my fears and prepare myself, but I avoided ruining the surprises awaiting me. I found the hotels, I learned about the city, figured out how to get to and fro, and then I left the rest to be discovered.

I got to experience so much and learn new things that I would not have had I a) waited for others to validate and agree to my plans or b) allowed fear to keep me from taking this small risk.

I will be writing more about my experiences in Copenhagen over my next posts, but I want to hear from you. What is a trip you need to take? Or what trip did you take, even though it scared you a little?

  1. Congrats on pulling the trigger! An impromptu solo Euro vacation is no small feat!

I’ve had my eye on a solo trip to Lisbon, Portugal for about a year now. I have some debt to pay down before I’m comfortable taking the trip. I hopefully, I’ll get it done in the next three years.

    1. Thanks! It certainly was a feat but built up my confidence so much more. Lisbon sounds fantastic. I hope things will align so you can take travel there soon.
