If you had previously told me to imagine what golden wood would smell like, I would squint my eyes at you and wait for you to come up with a different question. But now, having smelled Golden Wood by the Harmonist, it’s that. That is what it would smell like.

$285 for 50mL
Notes
Top: Bergamot, mandarin, bitter orange
Mid: Beeswax, pear granita, guaiac wood
Base: Oak, tonka bean, cabreuva
The scent is, of course, woody but with some elegant sweetness. There are fruit notes in the blend, but I am not registering it that way. Those notes seem to just complement and build out this enchanted forest vibe for my nostrils.
In terms of projection, I’ll let you know no one made any comments about my scent, and it wasn’t forcing me to be aware of it throughout the day. And it did fade throughout the day for average longevity.
I have been wearing this daily, in all situations. What I think I can see it best as for when I want to project a calm strength. Not a situation or event, but a feeling I want to evoke for myself. And I would say with the woody base, I could see this working for both men and women who want a lovely scent that won’t over power.
If you are trying to grow your collection of woody scents, I think it’s time you gave Golden Wood a try.
