Anthropologie has launched adaptive friendly styles available on their site. The launch included conversations with 4 influencers and disability advocates who also model the items on the site.

The adaptive friendly line includes pieces that are available in adaptive seated and adaptive nonseated options. Modifications, based on feedback, include features to make clothing more accessible for those with limb differences or use wheelchairs. As an example, buttons are available as magnetic closures, pants also feature a side zipper or easier on and off, and shorts come in cropped lengths for those who are seated.

For starters, I like seeing these options. And now that it is back to school time, I like that the idea that teens and young women could style options that fit in with their friend groups in variations that meet their needs.

While I believe these options are available online only, this is certainly not something I have seen from any other major brand. It also isn’t clear yet how Anthropologie will maintain this category on the site. Will they remain dedicated to keeping inclusive options available, or will they drop it like many brands have dropped their extended sizes?
