Previously at the Parfums de Marly boutique, I smelled Meliora. It is a fruity floral that I contemplated getting, but I was held back by the $375 price tag. Now, working with a sample, I am content with my decision.
The experience I had in store, smelling the scent on paper, did not prepare me for how it would react with my skin. The fragrance is certainly a fruity floral, but don’t like how the fruit notes behave on my skin. I find it off putting. As it has time to settle, the woody cedar comes forward. I enjoy that profile more. But as time goes on, it is harder and harder for me to detect on my skin. For me personally, I found this fragrance to have low projection and longevity. If I liked it more, I would need to reapply throughout the day to enjoy it.
Remember, I liked this fragrance in store and on paper. I don’t like it on my skin. For me, that helps illustrate why I suggest you test your fragrances on skin. Don’t just go by how it smells on a piece of paper, get to know how it smells on you. Because I highly doubt your goal is to just smell a blotter strip sprayed with fragrance all day long.
If you like a fruity floral, I would tell you to try Meliora for yourself.
