Giving the Drunk Elephant Protini a try

Drunk Elephant and I have had a longstanding difficult relationship. I don’t hate it, but I haven’t loved it for my dry skin. But for some reason, I decided to give it another chance and try the Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer.

Protini Polypetide Moisturizer

$22 for 15 mL

Lightweight gel cream moisturizer that should help plump and revive your skin

From day 1, I thought it was the consistency was off for me. The texture is a lightweight gel cream that for some reason just wanted to sit on top of my skin. Not fast absorbing at all for me. It was almost like my skin was repelling it until I made sure to really work it in. When I woke up in the morning, I didn’t have dewy skin, but it wasn’t dry. It is like a matte moisturizer, I suppose.

Over the weeks that I used it, I didn’t have any problems with it. There was no stinging, no irritation, but every time I had to really work the product in. Now, I will add that this came with a sample of their lactic acid. I only used it twice. But when I did, I do think it enhanced the performance of the moisturizer, leaving my skin feeling more moisturized.

At the end of the day, I don’t like this product. Nor do I hate it. But I have dry skin. If you have a oily or combo skin, you might love it. It is nongreasy and won’t leave you looking overly dewy. The other thing you might love is that it comes in a mini size. That gives you the opportunity to not just take my word for it, but give it a try to yourself at a size that wouldn’t leave you feeling over committed.

Final thoughts- If you have oily or combo skin, give this one a try. If you have dry skin, you might want to pass on this.
