Le Male Elixir is certainly a powerful fragrance

I recall smelling someone wearing Le Male by Jean Paul Gautier and being the person asking, “What fragrance are you wearing?” As a result, my hopes were high as I tried the Le Male Elixir. Oh buddy, not the same experience.

The first spray was overwhelming and instant regret. I was glad I wasn’t planning to leave the house that day. I can’t accurately describe what it was about the scent that I didn’t like. It as just one of those that felt like I could taste it, and I absolutely did not like how it tasted. Even from just the little spritz on just one wrist, the fragrance was following me everywhere like a bully I couldn’t escape. At and hour into wear, it barely subsided into wearable level.

Le Male Elixir

$119 for 2.5 oz

Key notes: Tonka bean, lavender, benzoin

Le Male Elixir listed notes are Tonka Bean, Lavender, and Benzoin.  The original Le Male has Vanilla, Lavender, and Mint. Maybe the reason the fragrance was so overwhelming it had something to do with the lavender being settled with stronger scents, instead being mellowed by softness like in Le Male. Or because it was intended to be more intense. Or maybe it was because I tested it on myself when it might have worked better with the body chemistry of a male. I’m not entirely sure.

Even though I didn’t like the experience of wearing the fragrance myself, it had these things going for it. Longevity, still going strong 11 hours later. Projection, whether I wanted it or not. I would imagine if you heading out partying for the night, this would be perfect.

If you are looking for a powerfully, undeniably masculine leaning fragrance, maybe you should try Le Male Elixir.
