When I saw the dark bottle of Athalia by Parfums de Marly, I was expecting something dark, deep, ambery, and brooding, deep. What I got when I sprayed it on my skin was something more sweetly feminine, a powdery floral. But you know what? I like it.
I have been wearing this fragrance for a few days to get a feel for it, as I was in different spaces. The real test today was wearing it around someone who I knew would be vocal about not liking fragrances. I got no response. Nothing was said, even though I sprayed heavier than I usually do. But on the other hand, I got no positive comments about how I smelled from anyone either. Maybe the fragrance just doesn’t project much on me. I will note it seems to have moderate longevity. sprayed the fragrance on roughly twelve hours. I did scent checks throughout the day. Only now does it seem to have fully worn off.
When I think about this fragrance as an outfit, I would say it’s a black dress, but it is more of a ball gown with pearls than a slinky number. However, when I think about how I would wear this, for some reason I’m seeing it as a speaking engagement scent, which is not a thing. But I see it as something that projects confident femininity. I think what I am pulling into this image is someone who is not only confident sitting on stage but is also open to receive and respond to the host. For some reason, I think I could own the room better smelling like this. .,
I know that I like this scent, but If you like musky, powdery, florals, you might want to give Athalia by Parfums de Marly a try, too..
