After finishing up my walk through Muir Woods, I perused their gift shop. The fragrance lover in me was beyond excited to find I could take home a vial of perfume oil that should smell just like the forest.
The Muir Woods perfume oil was thicker and more viscous than I would have expected. Unsurprisingly, it smells woody, freshly hewn. It seems like the kind of fragrance you leave in your repertoire for mixing scents. Every now and again, you want to add a woody element. I can think of no better way.
I was surprised to see that there are multiple options on the internet that claim to give you the Muir Woods smell. I wonder I can’t help but think, having read the notes on these items, they won’t be accurate. After all there were no bergamot or cypress trees in the forest. These might be some options if you just want to smell nice. But if you want to know how the woods smell, you’re going to have to go there yourself (then make a stop at the gift shop).
