I can’t help but feel that walking is the best way to get to know another city. And it is easy to take a walking tour of San Francisco, just following the Embarcadero. Here are some stops we made along the way.

Fisherman’s Wharf: We stopped here for people watching, and to take in the scenery while enjoying ice cream on the beach.
Pier 39: A mecca for your San Francisco souvenirs and food stalls. We walked up and down, looking into the shops before heading towards the water to be entertained by the sea lions
The Exploratorium- In front of this museum there are listening vessels, which take the old school cup and string phones and elevate them with physics. Feel free to sit and whisper secrets to your friend across the way, like you back in third grade.
The Ferry Building- There is so much to do inside the Ferry Building. We enjoyed some Dandelion Chocolates, but there were multiple restaurants, coffee shops, and other outfits to choose from. An important note: Allegedly the building is open from 7 AM to 8, but most of the shops close by 5 PM. Plan accordingly. Unless your goal is to just sit and chat, come between 10 AM and 5 PM.
Those are the things we did as we walked along the way. Have you traveled the Embarcadero? What did you do?
