The Ghiradelli Chocolate Experience. I had such high expectations, but alas it is not accurately named. Granted, you might be able to find more flavors of chocolates for sale than in your local store, but to call it an “experience” was a bit much. Unless by you talking about the experience of long lines and crowds. it is on me for expecting a museum instead of what it really was: A ice cream sundae shop with some chocolates for sale. The lines were long, the menu didn’t really even offer individual scoops, and the only chocolate available were the chocolates you can buy in store. If your idea of a San Francisco treat is sweet, I would suggest you visit Dandelion Chocolates instead.
Dandelion Chocolates is San Francisco grown company, selling artisan chocolate that is delicious and not mass produced. You can even get a tour of their chocolate factory or sign yourself up for a number of different experiences (including an at home tasting experience). I went to their shop set up in the Ferry Building and enjoyed their pastries and hot chocolate. It definitely had me checking the online store to see what I could get to enjoy back home. To be honest, I am thinking of when I can get back to city to experience more of that they have to offer.
If you want to learn more about Dandelion Chocolates, check out their website. I will be heading over there to look at their hot chocolate collection.
