I’m feeling studious. let’s review Book by Commodity

Maybe it was my desire to write really well that day that finally drew me try Book Expressive. As I sprayed it into the air, I immediately thought, “Oh no, I smelled like and old library.” Well played, commodity. That was clearly a fantastic interpretation of the sensation of sitting among the paper books, that have been on the shelf for years and hold just as many stories of the people who have checked them out as are held within.

Book Expressive $145 for 100 mL

Diving deeper into what I smelled, sandalwood certainly comes forward. And I’m fairly certain it’s the cedarwood that gives it that ancient paper scent. I don’t recognize the eucalyptus or bergamot, but I imagine that is what helps to round this fragrance out and keep it smelling cozy instead of like a pile logs.

I didn’t spray the fragrance heavily as I tested it. Just a little spritz on a wrist on the days I went out. I happened to wear this out to a Pilates class. I didn’t notice the scent intensifying or becoming unbearable. Nor did I detect my neighbors begin to regret choosing a reformer next to mine. I couldn’t really detect the scent on my skin after the class. But on other days, I could tell that even with a light spritz, it remained there strongly woody on my skin in the evening.

Wearing it now as I write this. I would definitely classify this as a woody fragrance. No denying that. I’m trying to imagine where I would wear this, but I’m not really sure. Maybe just as I did before, when I want to feel studious and focused on my craft. But Commodity have certainly linked themselves with those who love reading, with a previous collaboration with Emily Henry and her book, Book Lovers.

If you love woody fragrances, this is one for you to try. It is soft and wearable. And to mix things up, I could see this pairing well with a sweet floral. That is, if you are down to combine your fragrances. (I haven’t tried it myself, so take that with a grain of salt.)

Now, I feel like I need to compare this with another Commodity scent, Paper. Does it smell thicker, richer in comparison?
