Somebody Wood gives exactly what you might expect

Somebody Wood by Phlur smells exactly how you might guess: Woody. The perfumer lists multiple notes, including citrus and musk. I don’t get any of that on my skin. Only cedar rises to the top and sticks around. Expressing itself on my skin, Somebody Wood does not smell like a creamy wood but more like the scent of hewn trees being carried off to a carpenter’s workshop. Even still, I kinda like it.

Somebody Wood Eau de Parfum

$99 for 50 mL

Notes

Top: Bergamot, lemon

Heart: Jasmine, saffron, cyclamen

Base: Sandalwood, vanilla, musk, amber, moss, cedarwood

I wore this to an outdoor yoga event. The fragrance didn’t become suffocating, even as the temperature rose and I regretted my commitment to my oversized sweatshirt. And when I wore this out and about and networking, I received no comments, but no turned up noses either.

I found that this fragrance did not project from my skin. It was something that only I could smell if I concentrated enough. As the day wore on, I could still smell it on my arm I sniffed closely, but it was definitely a fragrance simply for my personal enjoyment. Clearly because I was the only person who even knew I was wearing a fragrance.

There are days where I don’t want to smell sweet, I don’t want to smell like flowers, and I definitely don’t want to smell edible. Those are the days where I would reach for Somebody Wood, and I could smell natural and earthy.

To be clear, the way this fragrance smells on you could be completely different. You might bring out the citrus and the musks. Or maybe you, too, will just smell cedar. But in any case, if you have been looking to expand your woody fragrance collection, Somebody Wood is a great place to start.
