A room tour: Equinox Hotel Hudson Yards

I had the wonderful opportunity to stay at the Equinox Hotel in New York. I will be spending time this week reviewing various aspects of the hotel, but today, I am going to give you a quick room tour. As you read over this, remember that Equinox is a fitness brand that is getting in the hotel space. Everything is designed to be health focused. It was also not at all surprising to me that shared the elevator multiple times with staff of an NBA team. If you want your athletes to be well recovered and ready to play, there is probably no better place to stay.

The hotel itself is in Hudson Yards, just steps from the 34th and Hudson Yards transit stop, right next to the Vessel, and just across from the Hudson Yards shopping center.

I booked the deluxe city view, which gave me the vantage point for a beautiful sunrise. The room itself was also beautiful, with wood floors, a plush carpet, and a calming aesthetic. The carpet was so soft that when I dropped my phone it made no sound. Housekeeping provided glass dishes holding Asha pop snacks and dark chocolate with lavender which were all surprisingly good.

The bed was soft enough for my liking. I also noticed it had two separate duvets, presumably so you don’t have to fight with your partner over the covers and can stay relaxed during your trip. I’ll add that while I was able to hear the noise from the street, specifically the sirens, I didn’t notice any hallway sounds or my neighbors. The place was definitely not empty either. I’ll get more into how well I slept on another post.

The bathroom has what I am starting to think is the standard set up for luxury hotels, the separate toilet room, then sink and then shower stall. It was stocked with Grown Alchemist products. The shower glass had an on off switch to darken it or make it clear so that you could see into the room. The second most underrated feature was the towels and little loops on them that made them easier to hang securely and not just fall off the hooks. The most underrated feature: three shower options- rain fall, traditional, and handheld. I was thankful, because I am tired of rainfall being considered the luxury ideal. Thank you, Equinox, for allowing me to choose, at not having to be subjected to feeling like I am drowning while standing up because everyone loves rainfall showers.

Let’s skip forward to the most extensive mini bar I have ever seen. It was not just food and drinks, but shelves and drawers full of workout clothes, supplements, and skin care as well. I was tempted to use the items just because curiosity is my vice, but I didn’t. Luckily, if you are curious, you can check the iPad in the room and look up how much the items cost before you take the plunge. And it actually seems to be a fair rate. It also included a foam roller, yoga blocks, and mat for complimentary use in room use.

The coffee bar was stocked with a Nespresso maker and Equinox teas for every part of your day. A caffeinated Power Up tea to start your day, Power Down for sleep, Recover for post workout, and Regenerate I suppose for any time, but because it has butterfly pea flower I would suggest for when you want some pretty in your life.

Because I am so ungrateful and spoiled, I wish they had included a kettle. It was a little tricky trying to get the right amount of water through the Nespresso machine, and the didn’t come out boiling hot. Probably because you don’t want your coffee to be boiling hot, but it does help to make a good cup of tea.

I’ve got much more to write in my reviews to come, but I really liked the place. I do want to come back to get a better understanding of the experience. If you are a fitness minded person headed to New York you might want to book your stay at the Equinox Hotel. And stay tuned for my upcoming posts about other aspects of my stay.
