When I came across AMEN candles, I saw their vessels on a website and decided to just give it a try. I liked the notes, that is the back story. I ordered their sacral and solar candles. The thing about AMEN candles, however, is that they is a little more too them. Each candle is tied to one of the seven chakras. In the time since I ordered and have been burning these candles, they have changed the naming convention. The sacral candle is now referred to as Chakra 02: sandalwood, while solar is Chakra 03: ginger.
Truthfully, these do not seem like one note wonder fragrances. You won’t be smelling pure sandalwood or pure ginger when you burn these candles. The candles fill the room with fragrance rather quickly, and they can be smelled from down the hall.

The candles are pretty good, but here’s the problem. I found it difficult to get an even burn. I burned the candles as long as I possible could on the first burn, but the top layer didn’t melt completely. I had to resort to wrapping the vessels in aluminum oil to finally fix the problem on the subsequent burn. Now every time I burn the candles, I immediately dress them in their aluminum foil jackets to prevent tunneling. This is a bummer, because it takes away from the aesthetics of the whole thing.
As a final opinion I’d buy from this brand again to try the other scents. But I have to admit, I wish they would somehow engineer the porcelain to conduct heat better. Or maybe sell a product that would help with getting an even burn. I’m not sure. But I will say that I am very curious about their concept of light sculptures.
A key aspect of the brand worthy of mention is its focus on sustainability as a strong brand focus. From the porcelain vessels, to the wooden lids, the vegetable-based wax, and the mushroom-based packaging, every aspect was chosen based on environmental impact. As they discuss this they bring up the idea of tending to your internal environment first. What they wrote about their environmental policy resonated with me, so I will share it with you’re here:
AMEN considers a new approach towards sustainability, starting from inside ourselves. The more I love myself, the more love I have to give to others, and to our world. Nature is not separate from Us, and so shouldn’t be spirituality and sustainability. We believe if we all were more in tune with our spirit we would be naturally aligned with better decisions and solutions for our planet. It’s all about raising the earths vibration. We dream of a world like that.
