Smelling By the Fireplace

I had a coworker once, who I didn’t care for, but I didn’t mind so much when he was around because smelled amazing. So I would always ask, “Why do you smell so good?” And the answer was always the same: By the Fireplace by Maison Margiela.

Because of the name, I had always assumed the fragrance would be super smoky, like what your sweater smells like after standing too close to a campfire all night. This instead evokes more of the warm and cozy feeling of being by the fireplace.  Maybe you have a book and a blanket on a leather chair curled up keeping warm next to the fireplace.

Replica By the Fireplace

$160 for 100 mL

Notes:
Top: Pink pepper essence, orange flower absolute, clove oil

Middle: Chestnut accord, gaïac wood oil, cade Oil

Base: Vanilla accord, Peru balsam resinoïd, cashmeran

I have been enjoying this scent wearing myself of late. Somehow, maybe because it has that cozy feel, it just fits when all I’m doing is just sitting at home. The only problem is that seems to fade down after just a couple of hours on my dry skin. But I suppose I can reapply.

If you haven’t yet tried By the Fireplace, I suggest you give it a try.
