Definitely wasn’t using the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask right

I was influenced, like much of the beauty community and just had to try the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I saw people in really life and on social media walking around with it, using it throughout the day. Surely, I will love it, too. Wrong. I hated it. I figured something was wrong with me to be the only person in the whole world who didn’t like the product. I felt my lips getting flakier with each application throughout the day. But now, years later as I am giving things second chances, I let it be what it was designed to be: An overnight mask.

I applied the product to my lips. Then when I woke in the morning, I did notice my lips were a little flaky, so I exfoliated them and then went on with my day with smoother lips.

I did some digging and found this review on the site Anxious Fish Club. She includes a picture the paper product insert, where you can clearly see the brand speaks to melting dead skin. The writer also talks about seeing changes in how much dead skin sloughs off over time as her lips heal. What I learned is that the reason I didn’t like the product is that it was doing exactly what it was supposed to do just at the wrong time.

So if you, like me, hated the lip sleeping mask as a lip balm, I suggest trying it as intended before you completely turn your back on the product. Apply generously before sleeping and remove in the morning (along with any dead skin). Then follow up with a lip balm.
