Getting there: The Fiesta Americana Pabellón

If you choose to travel to Monterrey, Mexico and stay at the Fiesta Americana Pabellón and are an anxious traveler like me, here some extra travel details to help you out. This is what you need to know about how to actually get there.

The best airport to fly into will be the Monterrey International Airport. The airport code is MTY, and you will also see these three letters decoratively around the city. From the airport, you can take an Uber. Prices will be in pesos in the app, and you might find the language switch to Spanish. Be prepared for that. I was given the advice that it may be easier to call for an Uber from the hotel across the street. We walked right across the airport parking lot to the hotel and easily and quickly were able to secure a ride. The ride to the hotel was roughly 40 minutes.

The other option would be to rent a car from the airport to drive around. Traffic patterns seemed comparable to the U.S. The only difference is that there were officers directing traffic during rush hours. A lot of the streets in Monterrey were one way, likely because of the how urban the area is. You also need to be prepared for tolls.

If you are staying at the Fiesta Americana, you will be dropped off in the front of the building, which will put you on level E2. To access the hotel, you will need to go to level PB (Planta Baja) on the south (Sur) side. The elevators will have either Sur or Norte written on the side. It’s not a problem if you end up on the north side; it’s just a longer walk.

The Fiesta American is a shopping destination with multiple restaurants, a movie theater, and the Tigre Tienda, a store for the local football club. You can wind around that area for some things to do and to get something to eat. And just because at the time I visited there was a Santa’s Balloon Land display, I will include a picture.

If you choose to stay at the Fiesta Americana, this should help you plan your trip more easily. And if you do stay there, I hope you have a wonderful trip!
