Dr Jart Cicapair: First impressions on the line

My skin has been going through it. Overly sensitive and dry, it certainly needs some help. What a time to try the Cicapair™ line from Dr Jart+. I tried the soothing repair treatment lotion and the moisturizer over the course of a week.

The first day I smoothed the serum on my skin, I was shocked. I was bracing myself for my skin to start stinging the way it had been with every other product I applied previously. And yet there was nothing. I was relieved. Then I put over top a different moisturizer I was testing out, and instant stinging sensation.

The next day I tried the moisturizer. I did not have the same happy results. My nose started to sting and I regretted my choice. And on top of that I was left with dry patches.

The following day, I applied the serum first and the moisturizer right after. No bueno. It was irritation city again.

Finally, I figured I had it. I put the serum on. Let it do its job while I brushed my teeth and then put on the moisturizer. Goldilocks. It worked. No irritation. And I also caked on the moisturizer to test it head-to-head with another one. The Cicapair™ moisturizer did not irritate my skin while the other did. Unfortunately, when I woke up in the morning, my forehead was dry and flaky. Then other dry spots were revealed as I moved my face in the mirror.

My final thoughts. I think the lotion could be useful to leave in my repertoire as a post-exfoliating treatment, or something I can put on my skin right after dermaplaning, which is typically going to leave my skin feeling sensitive. I am not sure how to feel about the moisturizer. It just isn’t enough for my dry skin, but I need to find something else that pairs well with the serum.

But, just because it didn’t work well for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. Give it a try to see if it fits your needs. Personally, I am going to go on the hunt to find more products that help to soothe irritated skin.
