The hotels might be out of this world (literally)

I enjoy traveling to new places and exploring the offerings in fine hotels. For me that means hopping on an airplane to another state. Were I a billionaire, that could mean traveling by rocket ship to another planet. There is a lot of excitement around space tourism with an increase in private business tackling the challenge of space travel. And that also means other businesses see the potential, because all those astronauts are going to need somewhere to stay.

Recently multiple companies are touting that they expect to be ready to open their own space hotels soon. With some earlier reports of expected opening in 2025, newer estimates being 2027. The gist is this would be happening soon. But how do you devise a stay on the moon that is up to a billionaire’s standard? What does luxury look like in outer space? Is just going (and coming back safely) valuable enough? Or can we expect Earthly levels of lavishness?

As much as I enjoy reviewing hotels, I don’t see myself spending any money or time to go to the moon. For one, I have way to high anxiety and too low a spirit of adventure, and I still have so much left to explore here on planet Earth.

You can read more about this race for the space hotel on the Conde Nast Traveler.
