The full-on assault from a trio of roses, the sharpness of pepper. This is Rose Prick, the 2020 release from Tom Ford. It is floral, with a light spice.

Tom Ford Rose Prick eau de parfum
$395 for 50mL
Notes: Rose de mai, Bulgarian rose, Sichuan pepper, patchouli
Tom Ford fragrances are known for their power, projection, and longevity. Case in point. I headed out on a summer day to carpool to brunch. I arrived quite warm, as it takes a while for my AC to kick in. As I got into the car to head brunch, the driver said, “Are you wearing fragrance?” and proceeded to passive aggressively roll down on the windows. I take that to mean it may have been a bit much for the heat, even though I tried to apply very gingerly.
A quick note based on the reviews I’ve seen. Given the image around Tom Ford fragrances, people have described this scent as illicit, sensual, after hours. I mean come on. Sexy and Tom Ford marketing go together like peanut butter and jelly, but that doesn’t mean you need to reserve this fragrance for date night. It smells good, but it is not Love Potion No. 9. You will be okay wearing this as you wish.
This might not be the fragrance for you if you are constantly in spaces with people who are sensitive to fragrance. You cannot squeak by unnoticed with this one. And if you live in a hot climate, maybe this isn’t the best choice until the cooler nighttime temperatures roll in. If you have been looking for a unisex rose fragrance that delicately balances the masculine and feminine aspects, give this a try. I for one will be wearing more of this, especially during the fall and winter.
This lasted well into the evening on my and had great projection. But alas, that might not be the case for you. Get a sample and try it out for yourself. Let me know what you think.
