Maison Margiela’s When the Rain Stops is a spot-on interpretation

I just tried Maison Margiela’s When the Rain Stops. And you know what’s wild? This is the first time that upon closing my eyes that I was transported to the memory Margiela tried to evoke. I remembered sitting outside, in a field, just after the conclusion of a storm. I am not sure why. It’s not like it smelled like wet grass and canceled sporting events. Instead, they used a pine needle and wet moss accord. Never before in my life would I have told you, “Mmm I love the smell of wet moss,” but here I am enjoying this fragrance.

Maison Margiela When the Rain Stops eau de toillette

$160 for 100mL

Top notes: Bergamot, vegetal accord, pink pepper

Middle notes: Aquatic accord, Isparta rose petal, jasmine grandiflorum superinfusion

Base notes: Pine needle, moss, patchouli

There is something about this that has a clean and fresh spirit, almost soapy. On skin, it was gentle and subtle on me. No one commented on me smelling either good or too much. Maybe they just thought I smelled like I bathed. Well, I enjoyed my scent and smelled it on my skin into the evening, albeit less potent.

If you haven’t already given this a try but know you want to expand you collection of fresh fragrances, give this one a try.
