Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream with Squalane reviewed: It’s a moisturizer

I’m not sure what it is, but I have not been able to fall in love with Kiehl’s, despite how beloved it is by so many other people. I’m trying products from the brand to better understand the hype. Today’s entry: The Ultra Facial Cream with Squalane.

Ultra Facial Cream with Squalane

$38 for 50 mL

Rich cream to hydrate and improve your skin barrier

The cream is fairly thick. Not La Mer cream thick, but certainly thick. I found my face is moisturized, but that it is it. It didn’t offer other benefits, nor more to the experience. me. Often, I will declare a product like this great for me, so I can better test the benefits of serums and treatments, but I just didn’t enjoy using it. Over the few days that I used it, my skin wasn’t raving about it, and neither was I.

That said, just because I didn’t like this, doesn’t mean that you won’t. If you are looking for a thicker cream with a formulation suited for sensitive skin, this might be right for you. Because it is not full of active ingredients and improve you skin barrier over time, you might really like it.

As I continue to use and try new skincare, I am starting to rethink my use of thick creams. I used to assume that the thicker the cream, the better job it would do at moisturizing my dry skin. But truthfully, if I don’t have any moisture in my skin, just putting a barrier on top isn’t going to be the best option. I need products that emphasize moisture first, that work with my skin’s makeup and chemical structure. A thick cream or a thin liquid isn’t necessarily better or worse, respectively, for me. It also means that I am going to just keep trying more things to find the perfect skincare regimen for me.
