I wanted a fragrance that felt like a summer holiday, reminiscent of a carefree day in the sun. I didn’t want to smell of coconut or sunscreen or a literal beach day. I applied La Perla’s Villa Sorrento to my wrists and was transported to the coasts of Italy, a far cry from the crowded Florida beach summer fragrances can often smell like. Instead, I smell of warm Italian citrus.

La Perla Villa Sorrento Eau de Parfum
$340 for 120 mL
Notes:
Top: Green mandarin oil
Mid: Neroli
Base: Amber
I find Villa Sorrento interesting. It’s characterized as a “Citrus Floral Musky” by La Perla and is one of the few fragrances with neroli that doesn’t scream neroli from my skin. Maybe it’s because the way the green mandarin oil interacts with the rest of the blend to take charge and remain the dominant scent. Or maybe it is the quality of the blend.
The fragrance lasted all day on me, though I’m not sure it projected very far. I didn’t receive any compliments or negative remarks. However, I could still smell it on my skin at the end of the day when I arrived back home at night.
Where would I wear this? Wherever I please, thank you. But for sure, this is a linen shirt, breezy lazy day fragrance. It may be my go-to on a day where I can casually experience leisure but still want to be pulled together. Even though it is sold by the famed women’s lingerie brand, I believe the notes make it great for anyone who wants that balanced citrus fragrance.
