I have been seeing TikTokers dousing themselves in Missing Person. Because it has been everywhere, I assume I would love it. (Although that “Everyone loves it” logic led me astray with Vanilla 28….)
I went into Sephora and sprayed it on a tester and smelled nothing. “Ah, this must be why it’s called Missing Person,” I said to myself and chuckled. I couldn’t really smell it on my arm either. It was very faint, a delicate office appropriate white musk. And at the end of the day, it was just as faint. That was the first day I tried it. Admittedly I had been smelling so many fragrances in store that day, it wasn’t the best test.

Phlur Missing Person Eau de Parfum
$96 for 50 mL
Notes
Top: Skin musk, bergamot, jasmine
Heart: Cyclamen, neroli blossom, orange flower
Base: Sandalwood blonde wood, white musk
I tried it again in the wild, or rather in my very tame life as I went about my day. I did find it to be fairly faint again in the beginning. However, as it was on my skin as the day went on I could smell it. And I like it more as the top notes started to fade away. Then as the day drew to a close, the scent remained on me.
Testing it again today to write this post, I sprayed multiple times on my arm this time; it was flower city and made me sneeze. That is, of course, my fault for overspraying. The white flowers were not subtle at all. I would say this is not the scent for going overboard with the application. It is supposed to be light and delicate. Let it be subtle.
If you love a floral musk, this is something you should try. However, if white florals are the bane of your nose’s existence, definitely pass on this one.
